- Install Shadowsocks on your distro
Ubuntu– Download latest ShadowSocks AppImage from HERE
# chmod a+x Shadowsocks-Qt5-x86_64.AppImage # ./Shadowsocks-Qt5-x86_64.AppImage
Fedora/RHEL users can install it from Copr Repository
# sudo dnf copr enable librehat/shadowsocks # sudo dnf update # sudo dnf install shadowsocks-qt5
Arch Linux – There is a shadowsocks-qt5 package in AUR repo. you can use yaourt package manager to install
# sudo yaourt -S shadowsocks-qt5
- Once installed, open up Shadowsocks > Connection Menu > Add > Manually
- Enter in the server settings
– Server Address = shadowsocks server address
– Port = 443
– Password = Enter in the password generated for you
– Change Encryption to AES-256-CFB
– Leave other settings as default - Select the new server you just setup > Connect
- Go to your web browser settings into the Proxy options (FireFox shown below)
– Set your SOCKS Host to 127.0.0.1 and port 1080
